Bovingdon are one of the few remaining brickmakers who can still duplicate the intricate colours, shapes and sizes of bricks made hundreds or even thousands of years ago. The group employs around 500 people with one of their manufacturing sites at Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

In early 2004 Production Director, Les Cook, was looking to improve the company’s system of attendance monitoring. He considered various purveyors of computerised Time and Attendance systems and reviewed different websites to make comparisons. Tensor was “always favourite” because they had been so highly recommended by an associate company, Northcot Brick Ltd, who had first purchased a Tensor WinTA system in 1996, further upgrading it in 2004. “Other Time & Attendance companies were considered, but we still preferred Tensor because is was tried and tested in a brickwork environment by Northcot” explained Les to the Tensor reporter.

A WinTA Lite system was installed by Tensor in February 2005. No problems were encountered with the installation of the hardware or software. Les Cook was trained on the system at Tensor's training centre in Hail Weston, where he described the quality of the training as “Very good, could not knock training, very good.”

“Tensor's WinTA Lite is a very accurate, fast way of checking employee clockings for payroll use” remarked Les as he described how Bovingdon Brickworks also use WinTA Lite to calculate attendance bonuses. “WinTA Lite makes it much quicker for us to pick up on whether employees have attended, been late and whether they are actually due a bonus” said Les. “Accurate and time saving” was the concluding comment made by Les.

Les and his team find WinTA Lite “Fairly easy” to use and describe the use of the Tensor Smart Keyfobs (Bovington prefer these to the traditional Tensor Smart Card) as “great, as they are smaller and more handy” .

On the two occasions Bovingdon have contacted the Tensor Helpdesk, Les was “very happy with the service”. Asked if he would recommend Tensor to other companies, Les replied “Yes, I would” . Tensor are a “professional” outfit and “are nice people to deal with”.
