Bute Fabrics designs and produces high quality contemporary upholstery fabrics in the Isle of Bute, Scotland. The fabrics are mainly used in the furniture and leisure industry. In 2007, Iain Cameron, their Company Accountant was looking to replace their dated and problematic clock card system which was made by Blick. Iain's objectives were to have a system that would simplify the payroll system, and something which would save money and time if possible (e.g. producing payroll - less manual calculations). The old system was time consuming and they wanted a new system that removed the need to buy hundreds of clock cards.
Iain reviewed systems from their existing supplier, now called Stanley Security Systems Europe, Time Systems UK Ltd and Tensor. He chose Tensor because “Price - Tensor was better value for money and Tensor also seemed confident that I would be able to fit the system myself as opposed to us having to pay for installation”.
Bute Fabrics ordered a Smart Card based WinTA Lite Time & Attendance and clocking-in system in July 2007 which Iain installed himself with the help of the Tensor Helpdesk. He encountered no problems in installing the Smart Card clocking station and connecting this to his PC and had “a few hiccups” in installing the software, “but we got there eventually - it did take up a good 2 days of my time” he said, which is pretty good considering that Iain has never been trained by Tensor on the use of Tensor's hardware or software.
“Robust, it works, and saved us money” was Iain's comments on what he liked most about his WinTA Lite system and he thought the ease-of-use of both Tensor's Smart Cards and the WinTA Lite software was “Fairly straightforward”.
Iain has used the Tensor Helpdesk extensively and his comments on how well they performed was “Good! some of the members obviously have more experience than others, but that is understandable”
Iain said “yes” to whether he would recommend Tensor to other companies and his concluding comment about Tensor was “It works - a robust product”
