Excelsior Technologies are specialist manufacturers of cast co-extruded films and laminates for packaging in the food and medical industry. They manufacture their products in Flint, near Chester in north Wales and distribute their products worldwide.

In 2000 the Finance Director was looking at streamlining the company's Time & Attendance recording, which included better control and keeping track of holidays and absences. He, and the management team, also wanted to better record certain Health & Safety criteria.

Excelsior reviewed systems from their then existing supplier Blick, Tensor and another local company. They chose Tensor because they were “excellent value for money” and “the combined Time and Attendance, Access Control, automatic Fire Roll Call and security features from Tensor were better than the competitors”.

Tensor installed a Smart Card based WinTA Enterprise Time & Attendance and Access Control system in June 2002. No problems were encountered with the installation of the hardware or the software. Systems Administrator, Paul Greenhalgh, and Leann Littla were trained in the use of WinTA Enterprise at Tensor’s training centre in Hail Weston. The quality of the training was described as “Fine!”

Mrs Jayne Doak, HR Manager, explained to the Tensor reporter that they do not yet use WinTA Enterprise to it's full potential, but that they will be using more of the systems' features over time. She added that their employees find the Tensor Smart Cards “Easy to use” . Jayne has used the Tensor Helpdesk and described the quality of the service as “Excellent” and when asked if she would recommend Tensor to other companies she said “Yes” .

Finally, summing up Tensor in a few words Jayne said “the service provided by Tensor is good” .
