Freudenberg Simrit LP, part of the Global Freudenberg Manufacturing Group has installed a Tensor Smart Card Time & Attendance and Access Control System at their service centre in Lutterworth, Leicestershire. The site in Lutterworth is responsible for UK sales and logistics.'We needed a simple-to-use computerised system that would fully handle the EEC Working Time Directive and control the access to our external/internal doors for our new premises' said David Brown, Freudenberg Simrit's Managing Director. 'After comparing Tensor's products with the competitors, we went for Tensor because of the clocking speed with their Smart Cards and the ease of use' he said.
Once the equipment, access control locks and software were installed, Freudenberg received their staff training at their site. With the introduction of the new system, the management of Freudenberg Simrit found that employee time keeping improved considerably and employees who may have left early before the Tensor system was installed, now clocked out at their correct leaving time. The company is very happy with the system and with the analysis and benefits it has brought.
Access Control at Freudenberg Simrit comprises multi-level controlled doors to secure areas of the building, with a warehouse and general office downstairs and an office upstairs. Particularly, the Tensor Smart Card Access Control System provides peace of mind for upstairs office staff who may work late. Here, they are secure in the knowledge that no one can get into the downstairs building unless they have a Smart Card.
'A good feature of the Tensor system is the ability to set 'keyholders' for out-of-hours access' said David Brown, 'far better than a punch number lock type access system where the combination code may fall into the wrong hands' he explained. A central advantage of the Tensor System is that Smart Cards do not need to be removed from wallets or bags in order to be used to gain access, making the whole process of getting into the building a fast and simple affair.
Freundenberg Simrit had an attempted burglary after the Tensor System was installed. A testimony to the strength and security of the Tensor locks was that despite the door being badly damaged, the lock held and was still in it's frame when the Police arrived.
