Field Boxmore Healthcare Packaging, part of the Chesapeake group, manufacturer of a wide range of printed leaflets mainly for pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. Their Works Manager, Mark Wilson, joined the company just over a year ago, and on his arrival he discovered they were still using an old fashioned 'clunk-clunk' clocking machine for the 120 staff. Mark wanted to improve the situation. He had previously used a Tensor Smart Card Time & Attendance in his previous employment and wanted to investigate the possibility of such a system for Field Boxmore.

Marks main objectives were to

• remove the manual work of managers associated with a clock card based system
• to create a uniform system across the business which had a history recall
• install a better method of tracking holidays/absence which was being done in different ways in different departments

"From my previous experience Tensor’s main advantage over their competitors was cost effectiveness and reliability" explained Mark.

A Tensor WinTA Lite system with an automatic payroll link for their KCS payroll was installed in November 2003. "We had no problems with the installation and only a minor problem with the software installation; but this was resolved quickly" added Mark, "Our Middle Managers and Administrators were trained on-site by Tensor. It was very thorough".

The areas where Field Boxmore think the Tensor system particularly excels is in the software’s user friendliness and the ease of use of the Tensor Smart Cards. They also like the mimic panel feature and print off a copy of this after everybody is in. They are currently looking at extending the Tensor system to other sites.

Asked if he would recommend Tensor to other companies Mark said "Yes, I find Tensor efficient and customer orientated"
