General Manager, Nicola Funnell, wanted a computerised system which would allow them to measure not only employees timekeeping but also how long they spent on each job. They were using a custom-built barcode system to measure time taken on jobs, which worked quite well for a time until the company grew. They knew they would need a better computerised system which would give them accurate clocking times and reporting. J & P Engineering bought a Tensor WinTA Lite system because it did exactly what they wanted. They installed it themselves. Nicola said “It was very quick and easy to install and I did most of it myself. We just screwed the Smart card clocking station base plate to the wall and plugged it in!” Nicola says, “I like the system as it good at getting accurate time spent on jobs.“ Nicola explains “its important for us to know how long is spent on each job as we use this information to price jobs. These days it’s important to know exactly how long each job takes and what it costs for us to complete. Sometimes when we are bidding for a job there are only pence between our price and a competitor. With WinTA Lite we know exactly how much it cost to produce any piece.” Nicola says, “For us the Tensor system is accurate and gives the information we want at the touch of a button. If we had continued to use our old barcode system it would be difficult to get the info we require. The system is small and compact. It has all the information we ever need maintained on it” “The system does not fail, so if any employee wants to know what his clocking are we can give them instantly” said Nicola. “We have never had to use the Tensor Help Desk. The organisation produces from its workshop in Charlwood, quality specialised sheet metalwork and fabrications for a wide range of customers. The company also has a separate division which manufacturers and suppliers of level control products, for bulk solids and liquids. We have a long standing client base within Europe, and are able to deliver worldwide.
