C & T Matrix Ltd makes consumerables for the print industry and the firm employs 45 people at its site in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. The company first thought of installing a Tensor Time and Attendance and Access Control system at the end of 2001 and at the beginning of 2002.
One of the decision makers for the project, Office and Finance Manager Tracy Myers, explained that the reason was to automate the clocking system and increase security. She added that C & T chose Tensor because “Tensor offered us the most comprehensive and competitive package,” and added that the main advantage of Tensor over the competitors was: “It fulfilled all our requirements at a competitive price.”
Therefore in April 2001 Tensor installed its world-class WinTA system and two additional scanners on site. This combined time and attendance and access control product handles all staff clocking, payroll and door security issues in one PC networked system. C & T use it to deliver secured entry, time and attendance and fire roll call, the latter ensuring the safe evacuation of employees via its automated fire roll call reports and alerts.
Tracy was one of the staff members to receive training on using the system at Tensor’s Hail Weston headquarters, and commented: “The training received was customer focused and delivered in a relaxed but professional manner.” She approved of the versatile, modular and upgradable system, telling the Tensor reporter: “WinTA collates clocking that can be used for more than one function, i.e. time and attendance and fire roll call.”
The Tensor system is “fairly easy” to use, she stated, adding: “The Smart Cards are very easy to use, as long as the employees remember to clock in.” The company does not quite use the system to its full potential, but that was due to Data Protection. “We opted to limit the amount of personnel data held,” added Tracy. The ingenuity of the system is that the cards are both an attendance recording device and a means to gain access for authorised personnel, while barring those who do not have those access privileges.
The firm has positive feedback following its use of our support staff. Tracy said the service after calling our help desk was polite and efficient. C & T Matrix has also used the Tensor Operations Department, as Tracy explained: “We upgraded our system and had to re-install WinTa, this was achieved by our IT Consultants talking to Tensor to ensure that the system was set-up correctly.”
What she liked most about the Tensor system was: “The system reliability and stability, and the excellent service provided by the helpdesk. We are happy with the way things are. I would be happy to recommend Tensor to other companies.” Tracy ended by summing up Tensor: “The product is reliable and the customer service is excellent.”
