Tensor helps Forest Care
Forest Care is a family owned and managed business providing high quality care and accommodation to the elderly. They place the rights of all their residents at the forefront of their philosophy of care and seek to advance these rights in all aspects of the environment and services they provide and to encourage their residents to exercise their rights to the full.
Forest Care homes are registered under the Care Standards Act 2000 and are fully compliant with the National Minimum Standards for Care Homes for Older People. In 1997, Director, Mark Vickery, wanted to replace Forest Care’s existing time and attendance system with a new one. The main objective was to achieve greater cost-effectiveness and obtain better support than he received from his existing supplier.
After considering various options Mark Vickery decided to install a Tensor WinTA Enterprise system using Tensor’s Smart Card badges connected to a T8440 clocking station in each of their three homes. Mark explained the main reason for choosing Tensor was because “Tensor were willing to provided a cost-effective, easy to use system for each of our homes, and they had good after-sales support”.
Tensor installed the three systems in 2008. Asked if there were any problems with the hardware installation Mark said “Nothing unexpected” and asked if there were any problems with the software installation he responded “Yes, but all was resolved”.
Sue Nuttall from Forest Care was trained on how to use WinTA Enterprise both at Tensor’s training centre in Hail Weston and some on-site training at the care homes. “Good” was how Forest Care described the quality of the training.
When asked what he liked most about the Tensor system, Mark responded “The system is relative easy of use and it is reliable”. When asked what he thought about Tensor’s Smart Cards he said “We had some issues but otherwise they are very easy to use”.
From time to time Forest Care have used the Tensor help desk. They described their experience as “Usually very good”. Their comment regarding Tensor’s operations department was “We had a few issues initially but otherwise they are good”.
Asked if he would recommend Tensor to other care homes, Mark Vickery replied “Yes”, and summing up Tensor in a few words he concluded “The Tensor system is user-friendly, reliable and cost-effective”.
