Up to 25 per cent of UK employees receive insufficient training and development, research suggests
Close to 25 percent of all employees across the UK believe that they receive insufficient support, training and development opportunities from their employers, a recent survey conducted by Ipsos Mori on behalf of Interserve Plc has been able to reveal.
The nationwide survey, which asked 2,061 adults aged 16 and above about their perceptions of training and development provided by their current employer and by big businesses that employ more than 1,000 people, found that just 48 per cent of respondents said they received adequate training and development from their current bosses.
As well as employees doubting the quality of their own training, just one in six believe that big businesses provide sufficient opportunities for apprenticeships, which could effect future generations entering the workforce.
The report also revealed that a third of respondents believe that big businesses are worse at improving employee skills and providing career development opportunities today, than they were 10 years ago.
Tensor human resources management solution helps companies implement sustainable development programmes
Companies keen on providing development and training opportunities for their employees should also consider implementing a very solid and reliable human resources management solution, and this is exactly where Tensor’s WinHR.NET will prove its worth.
Forbidding members of staff from operating machinery they’ve not been trained to use is one of the key contributing factors to the prevention of work-related injuries. This is the reason why the management of employee training is a key component of Tensor Personnel.
The Course Planner is where employees are booked onto course sessions to obtain skills that they require to perform their duties. Individual employee training records are updated automatically as courses are completed, along with qualifications / certification earned.
Furthermore, the Tensor personnel management suite also records any employee’s accident history, medical health records and benefits and required skills, optimizing the station manning process and making it easier for managers to assign only qualified, capable personnel to specific posts.
