Description

The Apprentice Electronics Technician position with Tensor is a three year apprenticeship covering both manufacturing and installation of Smart Card and biometric Time & Attendance, Access Control, security products and Building Management products.  Apprentices will work four days a week in the production, manufacturing and testing area of Tensor and one day Day-Release at a Regional College studying BTECH Level 1 in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Responsibilities

During the first year most of the time will be spent in the manufacturing area with some on site work where the apprentice will be shown how the equipment is installed in the field.  During the second year they will be involved in more site work and be given an opportunity to demonstrate what they have learnt by installing some elements of a system themselves.  The third year will comprise both installation and maintenance site work, together with time spent in the manufacturing area.  At the end of the third year the apprentice can choose whether they wish to work in the installation and maintenance area, which involves much travelling and site work, or whether they wish to remain in the production and manufacturing area building and testing the equipment.

Qualifications

Applications are invited from school leavers. (other applicants considered)  Those applying with You will be sharp hardworking individual with GCSEs in Science subjects or GVNQs in Electronic Servicing, Electrical and Electronic Engineering or similar disciplines. Applicants should

  • Have GCSEs with grades A to C in science subjects
  • Be self-motivated.
  • Have a keen interest in electronics and/or computers.

Whilst Tensor considers academic qualifications important, the most important attribute required of an apprentice is their tenacity and willingness to learn our products and the skill set necessary to assemble and test products.

Job Benefits

Starting salary is £9,000 rising to between £16,000 and £19,000 per annum.
