Description

The Apprentice Software Developer position with Tensor is a three year apprenticeship covering all aspects of object orientated software development within a Microsoft C# environment. You will additionally learn software development as applicable to the areas of security and energy management. In particular, these include Time & Attendance, Access Control and Building Management products.  Apprentices will work four days a week within our software development team and one day Day-Release at a Regional College studying BTECH Level 1 in Software Engineering.

Responsibilities

During the first year most of the time will be spent in the software development department perfecting your skills and learing the development frameworks. During the second and third years you will be involved in more system and site installations work and be given an opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt by installing some software elements of a system yourself.

Qualifications

Applications are invited from school leavers. (other applicants considered) Those applying will be sharp hardworking individuals with some previous experience of writing software, either web based or using some other languages. Applicants, ideally should have GCSEs in Science subjects or GVNQs in some type of software related development or similar disciplines. Applicants should

  • Have written some software previously, no matter how simple. If you can show us some of the code that you have written, then we would be particularly interested to see it.
  • GCSEs with grades A to C in science subjects
  • Be self-motivated.
  • Have a keen interest in software.

Whilst Tensor considers academic qualifications important, the most important attribute required of an apprentice is their tenacity and willingness to learn our products and develop code writing skills.

Job Benefits

Starting salary is £9,000 rising to between £16,000 and £19,000 per annum with 20 days annual leave + Bank/Public Holidays + Company pension scheme available. Additional annual leave achievable.
