Embedded Linux Developer
Description

Bright, sharp, enthusiastic person required to work within our existing embedded development team developing our cutting-edge Linux security and energy management products. You will already have a thorough understanding of boot-loaders, kernels, drivers, application interfacing and be skilled in C/C++, POSIX threads, networking and current embedded Linux kernel build environments.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to port current Linux kernels to ARM based processors then develop custom drivers and applications in C/C++ in a varied role with lots of opportunities to develop and learn.

Qualifications

Applications are invited from Linux developers with a good knowledge of working in embedded environments and electronics. Those applying with should have a degree in Computer Science or Electronics, or equivalent.

Required Skills:

  • Linux kernel development and debugging
  • Experience in writing portable C/C++ using GCC
  • Debugging and validation skills using GDB and Valgrind
  • Excellent understanding of networking protocols
  • Excellent working knowledge of ARM-based hardware, including memory/bus/communication interfaces.
  • Excellent understanding of relational database design and implementation with MySQL
  • UNIX Shell scripting
  • Competent with version-control using Subversion and git.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Gentoo Linux
  • SQLite and MySQL
  • PHP, JavaScript, JQuery and HTML5
  • U-Boot
Job Benefits

Salary is £23,000 – £37,000 per year. (depending upon ability and experience). A private pension is available + EMI scheme is available after 2 years of employment.
