Embedded Software Engineer
Description

The Embedded Software Engineer position with Tensor involves the design of the software and firmware of our Building Energy Management Systems (see www.heatingsave.co.uk ).

You will be working within an existing team of experts involved in the embedded system design of products over the full development lifecycle. The work involves embedded C and C++ software development on high speed complex data / signal processing and communications systems.

Responsibilities
  • Maintenance of existing embedded firmware of mature products ARM7 core and current and future development on peripheral rich MCU using Cortex-M family.
  • Work on the embedded firmware supporting TCP/IP Stack, RS485 and RS232 communications systems with encryption options, data processing of configuration and transaction data
  • Keil development suite used for all development including new products
  • Development and support of our Zigbee Home Automation solution including sensors and actuators using Simplicity Studio and IAR.
  • Zigbee development of our Smart Meter products.
Qualifications

You will be intelligent, self-motivated, dedicated and a hardworking individual. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in or knowledge of;
    • Developing real-time software for embedded control systems (bare metal and RTOS) in C/C#/C++;
    • ARM, Cortex-M0-M4 family and PIC Microcontrollers;
    • Instrumentation and control algorithms;
  • Excellent firmware design and strong diagnostic and debug skills;
  • Capability in interfacing embedded software with peripherals at low level (e.g. SPI, I2C, UART, USB) as well as high level (e.g. Modbus, CAN, TCP/IP);
  • Experience in the design and implementation of wireless communications, Zigbee style wireless mesh networks, Wifi, BLE, Lora.
  • A good understanding of electronics with the ability to read schematics and closely cooperate with electronic engineers;
  • Being comfortable with using oscilloscopes, logic analysers and other hardware-focused test equipment is important;
  • Ability to work to deadlines;
Job Benefits

Salary £28,000 – £40,000 per annum (dependent upon ability and experience) with 20 days’ annual leave + Bank/Public Holidays + Company pension scheme available.
