Facial recognition systems are becoming increasingly popular with security and law enforcement agencies around the world, as they are capable of enforcing a higher level of security by remotely detecting persons of interest by analyzing video feeds from CCTV cameras.

A great example comes from Tensor’s partners Herta Security, who have made an important contribution to reducing the level of crime on three of Uruguay’s largest football stadiums.

According to a news report, the implementation of facial recognition in Uruguayan football was promoted by the Ministry of the Interior and could be achieved thanks to the efforts of the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) and its two most important clubs.

At present, the three most important stadiums in the country have Herta facial recognition systems – Centenario Stadium, Great Central Park (the stadium of the National Football Club) and Champion of the Century (the stadium of the Athletic Club Peñarol).

If an alert is generated, the information is sent in real time to the devices of the police responsible for the system to prevent the access of unauthorised persons. With the aim of providing coverage to the rest of the stadiums, a system of portable facial identification was also implemented, which is transported to the scenarios in which other games are played.

According to Javier Rodríguez Saeta, CEO of Herta, “Uruguay is a pioneer in the world in the use of facial recognition technology for the identification of unwanted persons, contributing in this way to greatly increase the safety in first magnitude sporting events”.

TENSOR – EXPERT SUPPLIERS AND INSTALLERS OF HIGH-END FACIAL RECOGNITION SYSTEMS

A long-time technology partner of Tensor, Herta Security is a developer of cutting-edge facial recognition solutions, with fast, accurate, robust, end-customer oriented algorithms ad software. The Tensor system incorporating Herta technology is perfect for video surveillance and tracking, access control, and commercial marketing management.

The system can dynamically compare images of individuals from incoming video streams, of varying quality, against specific databases and send immediate alerts when positive matches occur. It also quickly manages real-time multi-recognition of faces in highly crowded environments.

The software has an amazingly high level of accuracy and is even able to analyse the 8K resolutions generated by the most high-end CCTV surveillance cameras. Its smart technology has in-built data analytics; detecting and estimating gender, age ranges and ethnicity – there will be more to follow later. The application is also able to conduct 35 million comparisons per second, making it the fastest system in the world.
