Facial recognition technology to be widely used in consumer and enterprise devices, report forecasts

Tensor – experts in CCTV maintenance, systems takeover, design and deployment

Facial recognition technology is already one of the most exciting types of biometric authentication around and its popularity is likely to grow even further with the number of annual facial recognition devices and licenses set to increase from 28.5 million in 2015 to more than 122.8 million worldwide by 2024, according to a report published by Tractica.

As Tractica’s report notes, facial recognition tech faces “strong competition” from other forms of biometric authentication, like fingerprint recognition, voice and speech recognition, and a variety of forms of eye recognition. Each of these could be implemented in devices intended for a general consumer or for enterprise.

Nevertheless, researchers at the firm say that facial recognition can be far more accurate than other forms of biometric authentication, and they project that the industry of facial recognition technology will see strong growth despite the competition from other technologies.

Tractica expects facial recognition to be a $150 million industry in 2015, and the firm expects that revenue for both visible light facial recognition and infrared-based facial thermography will reach $882 million by 2024. The industry’s cumulative revenue for the ten-year period ending in 2024 is expected to total $4.9 billion, increasing at a compound annual growth rate of 22%.

Tensor – experts in deploying facial recognition technology

Tensor has an extensive experience in deploying solutions that employ facial recognition technology for a variety of customers. Our expertise and technical know-how enables us to easily integrate video surveillance into other security systems including ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition), Access Control and Facial Recognition to name a few, in order to enhance and improve the security and efficiency at your site.

Tensor face biometrics are used to identify users from access control lists and verify their identity. Our access control solution facilitates user management at runtime and allows users to be enrolled on-the-fly by video capture.

This technology yields excellent performance despite partial occlusions of the face, the use of glasses, scarves or caps, changes of facial expression, and moderate rotations of the face. Moreover, it does not allow users to be impersonated using photographs. Tensor biometric technology is the perfect solution to control the access of personnel to restricted security areas.
