The North East Ambulance Service provides a number of NHS services, and covers the counties of County Durham, Northumberland, and Tyne and Wear, along with the boroughs of Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees.
West Midlands Police is the second largest police force in the country, covering an area of 348 square miles and serving a population of almost 2.6 million. The region sits at the very heart of the country and covers the three major centres of Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton. It also includes the busy and thriving districts of Sandwell, Walsall, Solihull and Dudley.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service has a range of retained fire stations, whole-time (containing full-time personnel) fire stations, community safety centres and both retained and full time fire stations which cover a total population of 519,000. Currently there are seven retained stations, six whole time and retained stations, two whole time stations and four community fire safety centres.
