The company has two sites, a manufacturing hub in Poland and the main factory HQ in Winsford in Cheshire. Renray Healthcare needed a system to more easily and conveniently monitor and manage their 85 staff at the Cheshire site, and chose Tensor to provide the solution.
Originally installed in 2003, the Tensor Time and Attendance system included a basic clocking station for staff to clock in and out using smartcards, but which has since been upgraded to a T32xx clocking terminal. This series of terminals can also use several additional types of credentials if desired, including key fobs, PIN codes, and fingerprints, and can be connected to BioStation scanners to enable facial authentication to be used as well.
Sharron Cross, Payroll and Purchase Ledger Clerk for Renray Healthcare, is one of the primary users of Tensor's WinTA.NET Time and Attendance software. She says:
"When I started, the Tensor system was already here; we've upgraded to a new version since then.
"It's easy to use, and obviously it covers the aspects that we need. There's a lot more that it can do that we have the option for, but we just don't need it."
Tensor systems are modular, meaning each installation can be easily tailored to include only features and processes required by individual businesses, providing a straightforward and streamlined application without any unnecessary extras. "When we first got it set up, I was only using it for holiday allocation and a few reports," says Sharron. "However, a new Director has recently joined the company who wanted further, more advanced reports regarding working hours and absences and things like that for the shop floor. So, I had some training via Teams and now it does the job."
Initial training for key personnel on the system can be provided either in person or online, depending on the individual requirements and system setup. If necessary, additional training sessions can be easily booked online for new staff, new features, or just as a refresher.
The reports offered by the Tensor Time and Attendance system can cover a range of purposes, from absenteeism and lateness reporting, to pay calculations and job costings. The system is also easily customisable, allowing for the creation of new, specific reports as desired. Reports can be manually generated or automated depending on different conditions.
Renray Healthcare also make use of the Fire Roll Call module, which links the Time and Attendance system to the fire alarm system to trigger an automated list of on-site personnel. Renray Healthcare had a printer installed alongside their initial Time and Attendance system to automatically print out the report on activation of the fire alarm. The feature has since become available via a smartphone app, which not only provides a real-time list of employee status in an emergency, but can also be used to directly contact potentially unsafe employees via phone if necessary.
Customers also have access to the Tensor Helpdesk, where technical and software experts can be contacted by email, phone or a dedicated Support Portal should any issues arise. Sharron says: "When we've done something wrong, I tend to email the helpdesk, and they come back to me and advise me, or call back; they can also log on and sort it for me."
