33 percent of British employees are looking to move jobs in 2014, study finds

Almost a third of British employees will be looking for a new job this year, with a bigger pay check being cited as the decisive factor when changing jobs, a recent market survey has revealed.

The Robert Half Job Satisfaction Index polled 1,196 employees and business leaders and discovered that 33% of employees are considering moving jobs this year, while 83% of executives are worried that workforce migration will significantly affect their productivity, a media source can reveal.

Statistical figures obtained from the report also suggests that 46% for employees between 18- and 34-years-old are likely to start looking for a new job, while 60% are happy with their current role. Most people who are considering moving jobs live in London (50%), while Yorkshire is the region where most workers are likely to keep their existing jobs (76%).

Better remuneration represents the main driver for seeking new employment. In fact, 40% of employees participating in the survey revealed that a higher salary would influence their decision to leave. Other reasons for leaving include boredom and lack of promotion opportunities (15%), a poor work-life balance (14%) and dissatisfaction with company leadership (9%).
