With the news in January 2026 that the CSCS Smart Check verification platform has recorded its 60 millionth scan, we thought we would highlight the importance of construction security and how easy it is to integrate with Tensor's products.
Security for construction and building sites is one of the most important tasks for a site manager. It has been reported that theft from construction sites costs over £800 million each year.

The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) is the UK's leading skills certification scheme in the construction industry. It issues cards of thirteen different types to those working within the construction and building industry, dependent upon occupation, qualifications and experience of the cardholder. Workers must make sure they have the correct card for their occupation, as they may be refused entry to a site if they have the wrong type of card. Non-construction workers and visitors do not need a CSCS card.
CSCS cards are not a legal requirement, but after 30 years of the scheme, over six million cards have been issued and most major contractors and building companies in the UK necessitate workers on their sites to have a CSCS card.
Construction site access control can be streamlined, and its management made easier, thanks to Tensor's IT partner status with CSCS. Tensor's CSCS Card Wizard allows professionals to use their existing card to access sites, ensuring an additional level of security.
This integration means that contractors who attend CSCS sites not only use their existing CSCS Smartcard to identify them as a CSCS certified tradesman but also to clock in and out of site for timekeeping, safety and security purposes.
The cards can also work with Tensor's car park barriers, turnstiles, biometric verification devices, and fire roll-call systems thanks to Tensor.NET. In this way you can combine identification, access and employee workforce management all in one card and system.
For additional security Tensor's Rapid Deployment Asset Protection System (RDAPS) can be used as a secure and cost-effective method to oversee the site in addition to or instead of guards onsite.
