The need to implement advanced workforce management systems in order to manage new, mobile and flexible working arrangements has driven the demand for integrated Time & Attendance solutions up by 50% over the past few years.

According to a recent study on the matter, the prime factor accounting for this demand boost is represented by the large scale adoption of mobile technologies, which are rapidly changing the classical workplace concept.

As more and more companies allow employees to work from home in a bid to reduce overall costs, most T&A features that are in high demand include solutions that work on mobile phones, making use of GPS for location information.

Other technologies of interest include facial recognition for field based workers and those working in challenging and/or high security environments, practically enabling organizations to supervise in an equally effective manner the activity of staff working either on or off-site.

Tensor’s WinTA.NET platform contains special rules to accommodate the formal flexitime contracts worked by many public sector employees. Workers paid on an annual contract basis can receive reports stating how many contracted hours they have yet to work.

The system also enables users to easily insert breaks either between set times, and/or after a minimum number of hours have been worked. The optional auto clock out feature also allows the system to automatically clock an employee out at a specified time if no clockings are made.

Additionally, Tensor’s advanced Time and Attendance system also offers employees who work remotely the possibility to access their Self Service Module accounts whilst on the move via their iPhone. The Tensor iApp is available for download from Apple’s App Store and allows users to login & request absences and make clockings directly from their iPhone. Supervisors can use the same iApp to manage absence requests.

The app offers users the ability to clock in or out with an optional reason code. If the user has their phone’s location services turned on, then their physical location is plotted on a map viewable from within Tensor.NET. Furthermore, they will also enjoy the possibility to view their current, pending and denied requests at a glance, view all leave requests on the iApp calendar and view all clocking transactions they have made during a period of either: the last 7 days, the previous day or current day.
