British Transport Police (BTP) said patrols are being increased to keep young people off railway lines. The problems are especially bad in the West Midlands and for this reason one station in the area (at Yate) has had eight security cameras installed following a spate of vandalism. BTP added that last year, between August 1 and September 30, 82 offences were recorded with the majority being for trespass. A spokesman said the school summer holidays traditionally coincided with a rise in trespassing.
