Global firms expect surge in staffing levels over next 12 months, report suggests

Almost half of global firms expect their workforces to expand significantly over the next year, recent research by from recruitment firm Michael Page has found.

The survey of more than 2,500 HR leaders from 65 different countries found that the UK and Ireland lead the way in demand for global talent, with 60 per cent of organisations expecting an increase in total workforce, and over half (54 per cent) of these respondents reportedly spending more than 10 per cent of their total budget on recruitment to meet these expectations.

Michael Page’s 2015 Global Insights HR Barometer suggests that the top business priorities for global firms are talent management (33 per cent), training and development (33 per cent) and talent acquisition and recruitment (32 per cent).

Rob Archer, regional director at Michael Page Human Resources, suggests that recruitment will become an even more pressing HR concern when the global economy picks up again.

“Strong hiring and recruitment expectations in many locations signal a new phase of economic growth and rebuild. However, the exponential growth and evolution in technology, means that the HR industry will be at the frontline of a talent war that is set to spread to other sectors,” he said.

The research also found that, tespite the increasing importance of HR, the majority (70 per cent) of organisations do not expect to change HR staffing levels within the next 12 months to reflect the increasing workforce size.

Tensor Time and Attendance – the perfect workforce management solution to streamline HR processes

Implementing automated systems and workforce management technology that help HR practitioners streamline their activity can ensure their long-term productivity, even without expanding their respective departments.

Tensor plc is a market leader in the employee management systems’ segment. We supply an extensive range of systems designed specifically to help HR departments record accurate data regarding the employee’s activity, their performance, as well as their attendance.

Our flagship WinTA.NET integrated workforce management solution incorporates a dedicated Absence Planning and Entitlement Management feature.

WinTA.NET is a web enabled, mobile / wireless technology based Time & Attendance system designed for those companies employing 20 people to 10,000+. The solution provides total control over the creation of working rules, Access Control, Job Costing and System Security and has specifically been designed for multiple companies, each managing multiple sites.

Our comprehensive, yet user-friendly software comes pre-loaded with graphical calendar charts that provide a colourful way of viewing an individual’s or a department’s absence records.

Each employee can be allocated different entitlements for absence such as annual leave or allowed sickness. As absence is booked and taken, the remainder available for each entitlement is updated. Entitlement formulae are used to calculate more complex entitlements calculated on a rising scale based upon length of service.

WinTA.NET supplies the relevant managers with information on employee’s absences through warning email notifications or via hardcopy reports. After that, the system would rapidly identify missing employees that are expected to be at work and then informs you via automatic email reporting reports distributed by email.
