Main Benefits of Installing Barrier Turnstiles for your Business

Access control turnstiles

Gates, barriers and turnstiles are unquestionably the most secure and effective way of keeping your site safe as well as ensuring unwanted visitors stay out. This article sets out to explain what turnstiles are and what the main benefits of installing them are for your business or site.

Barrier Turnstiles for your business

A barrier turnstile is an access control security system consisting of a mechanical gate usually formed by horizontal pivoting arms attached to a vertical post. They, integrated with other security systems such as digital CCTV systems, smart card access control systems and biometric access control systems, provide an outstanding level of security for your business and/or site.

Turnstiles can be used to streamline the process of entering and exiting people in buildings and areas such as schools, universities, parks, apartment buildings, hotels, sports facilities and train stations, etc. Depending on the needs of the business, it is possible to choose between three different types of access control turnstiles: Full Height Turnstiles, Half Height Turnstiles and Glass Turnstiles.

Half Height Turnstiles, Full Height Turnstiles & Glass Turnstiles

With a stainless steel tripod design, our half height turnstiles are available as single or double turnstiles, allowing you to duplicate the efficiency and keeping the space used to the minimum. They are particularly suitable for businesses with high volumes of traffic and can operate bi-directionally if required. Half height turnstiles are the perfect access control solution for businesses such as leisure centres, arenas and gyms.

Half Height Turnstiles

On the other hand, our full height turnstiles provide even greater security than half height turnstiles, as they prevent people from jumping over or actually seeing what is beyond the turnstile. Manufactured from electrostatically powder-coated steel or stainless steel, our full height turnstiles have proven to be durable even in extreme weather conditions. Available in single or double and manual (mechanical) or motorised versions, they are suitable for high traffic volumes, reaching a maximum capacity of 33 people per minute for the single manual turnstile.

Finally, glass turnstiles have the distinction of being very easy to use and can be integrated with any access control system. Available in both full height and half height, glass turnstiles are usually installed in stadiums, arenas, parks and access control lobbies.

The 7 Main Benefits of Turnstiles

1. Greater control of people entering and exiting

Compared to barriers, gates and doors, with which you cannot control how long they are open and how many and which people enter and leave an area, turnstiles allow the passage of one person at a time and can be operated either in one direction or two.

2. Reduce the need for manned security and save money in the long term

The turnstiles operate automatically and can be operated with smart card access control systems, integrated CCTV, biometric access control systems, tokens, intercoms and so forth. Therefore there is no need for manned security or if used it can perform other functions such as queue control or giving information. In the long run this leads to high savings in money, as well as a more efficient level of security.

3. Low need for maintenance and save money

Barrier turnstiles are made of premium materials, such as stainless steel, which are resistant to corrosion even under critical weather conditions. This also saves money in the long run as there is no need to replace or repair malfunctioning parts or products.

4. They are sturdy and reliable

They are robust and reliable against forced entry attempts, providing unparalleled security.

5. Turnstiles act as a deterrent

Turnstiles not only provide greater security in the event of forced entry attempts, but can help to discourage unauthorised persons from even trying to enter.

6. Streamline the entry and exit process

Turnstiles prevent people queuing in an un-orderly fashion and allow the entry and exits from a room, area or building to be smooth and streamlined.

7. Access Control Turnstiles enhance the image and professionalism of the business

A high level of security shows that you take your business seriously and take care of your assets, your customers and your employees.
