More SMEs now considering flexible working arrangements for employees, study reveals

A recent research study by Lloyds Banking Group revealed the fact that up to two thirds of small or medium employers (SMEs) across the UK have various alternative working arrangements set for their employees, in order to help them optimize their activity and attain a superior level of efficiency and productivity.

In fact, as the respective report reveals, 26% of companies report that they are investing more of their profits into developing the provision of the service than they did five years ago. Furthermore, out of the companies participating in this study, 70% implemented a flexi-time and home working system, while a third were allowing staff to work from multiple locations and job sharing was available at 22%.

Naturally, managing remote workers and making sure that they reach their top level of efficiency is not exactly an easy task, but Tensor’s WinTA.NET Time and Attendance suite is up to the challenge, given the extensive flexi-time and remote working provisions it has in store.

The Tensor WinTA.NET suite supports the most frequently used methods of calculating employee hours, from simple determination of overtime by the number of daily hours worked, to the more complex payment of overtime hours adjusted when periodic targets are not met.

Furthermore, the system contains special rules to accommodate the formal flexitime contracts worked by many public sector employees, while workers paid on an annual contract basis can receive reports stating how many contracted hours they have yet to work.

As a further provision for employees working from a remote location, the Tensor suite also comes packed with an advanced Self Service Module, which is a web based application that allows enrolled employees to Clock IN or OUT for Time & Attendance purposes, book themselves ON or OFF the fire evacuation list and book ON or OFF jobs via their internet browser.

Plus, employees are also able to view their current holiday entitlement, clock card reports and browse past absences using an absence planner and request amendments to clocking & absence periods in the past & future. All such requests must be authorised by the employee’s supervisor. Supervisors are informed about requests by email, as are employees when such requests are granted or denied.
