Most businesses fail to use data effectively, IT professionals warn

Only around a quarter of firms manage to use the various types of data they collect in an effective manner, a recent survey of 288 IT professionals was able to reveal.

Recent research by IT jobs board CWJobs found that 90% of IT professionals believe less than 50% of organisations put data to good use, with early two-thirds (65%) of them believing that most businesses do not appreciate the contribution data scientists can make and 63% think more should be recruited.

CWJobs sales director Mike Black believes that that employers risk falling behind their competitors if they “fail to utilise data in an increasingly competitive marketplace”.

“Smart analysis of the data they hold can help businesses to identify new market opportunities, as well as finding ways to more efficiently manage their day-to-day operations,” he said.
