Organizations hiring overseas talent urged to implement effective CV screening procedures
As more and more business organizations move to hire overseas talent, they should also implement very effective CV screening and background check processes, a market research study carried out by HireRight suggests.
Right now, more than 39% of all businesses across the UK do not have a reliable CV screening procedure in place for international candidates, despite the fact that over 76 per cent of organizations admit that carrying out background checks for international candidates is a much more difficult task, compared to the similar verifications applied to domestic candidates.
The poll questioned a sample of 200 people involved in UK HR and recruitment and also reveals that more than 27 per cent of participants believe that their business will hire even more overseas talent in the next two years.
The study also suggested that, throughout 2013, employment history (33 per cent) and educational achievements (32 per cent) were the areas where candidates were most likely to include inaccurate information.
Steve Girdler, managing director of EMEA, HireRight, comments: “With greater choice of talent comes greater complexities. To help ensure organisations employ a qualified candidate who does not pose a risk to the business through fraudulent, dishonest or inappropriate behaviour, organisations must have a robust screening process which treats national and international candidates with the same level of rigour.
“Clearly this is not currently the case in many organisations.”
