Over four million people now work from home, new TUC analysis reveals

The number of people claiming that they usually working from home rather than their company's office has risen by 62,000 over the course of 2013, going over the 4 million threshold for the first time ever, a new TUC market analysis has revealed.

The report used statistical figures obtained from the ONS (The Office for National Statistics) and revealed that the number of regular, full-time home-workers has risen by over a half a million since 2007, which marks an increase of more than 10 per cent.

The data also shows that the biggest increase in home-working has taken place in the South East, where the number of home-workers has increased by 132,000 since 2007. On the other hand, people living in the South West are still the most likely to work from home, with around one in six regularly doing so.
