As part of the City Deal, Oxford will see major improvements in local roads and public transport, designed to connect the universities with the city’s major industrial and research areas. Road links to the Science Vale Enterprise Zone will be improved, and the first phase of the new Science Transit public transport scheme will begin.

Plus, 4 new innovation centres are also set to be built using funding made available through the City Deal scheme, giving Oxford the tools to really make the most of its world-renowned science and research, creating jobs and driving the local economy.

Given the impressive infrastructure investments set to be carried out in the near future, current forecasts predict that more than 18,000 long term jobs will be created through the deal, plus more than 30,000 construction jobs will be created to support the area’s development.

£55 million of central government funding will be provided for innovation, transport and skills, while the extra £40 million from local authorities will enable the area to enjoy up to an estimate of £600 million from the private sector, creating a total of almost 50,000 jobs in the area.

In order to properly capitalize on their growth prospects, firms of any size involved in the future construction projects around Oxford should also seriously consider the implementation of solid and reliable workforce management solutions, and this is specifically where Tensor could put its extensive experience in the field to very good use.

The Tensor WinTA.NET Time and Attendance solution will make staff management a much easier and more streamlined process. The platform supplies and extensive level of functionality, from simple clocking when arriving on site to complex operations, such as specific job costings and export to payroll features.

Additionally, Tensor plc supplies a very versatile access control solution for companies actively involved in the construction segment. Construction workers and other people who hold a CSCS card can use their existing card to clock onto a Tensor Time & Attendance system and/or gain access to a construction site or similar, or use the CSCS card to gain access through turnstiles or car park barriers.
