Up to 83 percent of HR professionals do not use workforce analytics technology
Although the majority of HR professionals believe workforce analytics technology could help them make better business decisions, around 83 percent of them do not currently have access to this sort of technology, research carried out by Source for Consulting in partnership with business applications and service provider, Advanced Business Solutions, has been able to reveal.
The a survey of executives in a variety of roles from 297 UK mid and small-sized organisations suggests that just 17 percent of HR professionals are presently using analytics software. This figure is considerably lower compared with Marketing (48%), Strategic decision making (44%), Finance (38%), Operations (37%) and employees who work in customer-facing functions (37%).
HR staff may also struggle to exploit potential opportunities, with 68% admitting that they have yet to consider how they could use analytics within their department.
The respondents put forward a number of suggestions as to why organisations should invest in analytics. 86 percent felt the main benefit would be to make better informed decisions, followed by the need to improve the understanding of why things have happened and operational efficiency (both 69%).
Only eight percent reasoned that their business should implement an analytics solution ‘because other organisations are investing’.
Workforce analytics – an integral part of the Tensor WinTA.NET package
Tensor plc is a market leader in the employee management systems and workforce analytics segment. We supply an extensive range of systems designed specifically to help HR departments record accurate data regarding the employee’s activity, their performance, as well as their attendance.
Our flagship WinTA.NET integrated workforce management solution incorporates a dedicated Absence Planning and Entitlement Management feature.
Our comprehensive, yet user-friendly software comes pre-loaded with graphical calendar charts that provide a colourful way of viewing an individual’s or a department’s absence records.
Each employee can be allocated different entitlements for absence such as annual leave or allowed sickness. As absence is booked and taken, the remainder available for each entitlement is updated. Entitlement formulae are used to calculate more complex entitlements calculated on a rising scale based upon length of service.
WinTA.NET supplies the relevant managers with information on employee’s absences through warning email notifications or via hardcopy reports. After that, the system would rapidly identify missing employees that are expected to be at work and then informs you via automatic email reporting reports distributed by email.
