Tensor Sponsor Newly-Formed Girls Football Team
Tensor has sponsored its local girls football sessions, Priory Parkside Wildcats and Squad, for the 2022/2023 season.
Following the Women’s World Cup in France in the summer of 2019, Priory Parkside FC decided to run girls only sessions, alongside their mixed sessions, to understand if there was any interest in running these sessions in the future. The sessions were a success and Hunts FA contacted the club to set up a FA Wildcats centre.
The impact of England’s Women’s team becoming the Euro 2022 champions has been immense, and subsequently inspired the entire nation to get behind and support women’s football. This impact has gone all the way through to grassroots level, which is brilliant for clubs such as Priory Parkside.
The most important thing about Wildcats is that it is all about having loads of fun, meeting new amazing friends whilst playing football. The sessions have grown and the club have had amazing support from Hunts FA and also a number of schools in the area promoting the sessions.
Last season, Priory Parkside were able to create their first Girls team from participants of Wildcats and also players playing in the mixed teams, who will be playing their first full season in 2022/23.
A number of the clubs Wildcat participants were coming to the upper age limit for the sessions last season and the FA launched Squad, for girls aged 12-14, which is designed, through fun, non-competitive football, to help girls cultivate a positive connection to physical activity and football whilst developing them to become confident young leaders and make friends.
As a club, Priory Parkside would like to give participants the opportunity to play football in a fun environment and, should they wish to play competitively, create teams for them to play in.
Tensor is delighted to be a part of this new project, which will hopefully increase opportunity and interest for young girls to get involved and play football.
