Asteelflash, a French multinational and one of the top electronic manufacturers in the world, specialises in PCB (Printed Circuit Board) assemblies for industries ranging from aerospace and defence to consumer electronics and medical devices. Operating across 18 countries, the company's Bedford site, home to 118 employees, relies on Tensor to manage their Time and Attendance.
We spoke with HR Manager Caroline Harvey to learn how the Tensor system has evolved and supported their team over the years.
Reflecting on the origins of Tensor at the Bedford site, Caroline explained, "Tensor was there before I joined back in 2011, however, I'd imagine the goal of using Tensor was to replace a manual clocking system for accuracy in calculating hours and pay."
Since its initial installation, Caroline has told us that they "upgraded their system a couple of times" but overall, it has worked well for them.
She also shared her experience with the training: "We had the training at Tensor's office when we upgraded, and it was very good." When asked if she felt like she was using the system to its full potential, she said, "Possibly not; however, we recently ordered the Self-Service Module to our system."
We're always interested in what our clients' favourite features are, so we asked Caroline about the WinTA.NET system. She responded, "I like the reporting facility, it's good. I feel like it gives me quite reasonable reports from the system, so that's the most useful thing for me." She added, "It is useful for me to view an individual profile and see their holidays and sick information."
Asteelflash do not currently use the Tensor HR system, but Caroline pointed out that the Time and Attendance module still allows them to record employee information. "We don't use the Tensor personnel system, however the Time and Attendance system allows us to record employee information like next of kin, so that is useful."
When discussing support, Caroline was positive about her experiences. "We have called the helpdesk a few times," she described the service as "very good", and had similarly high praise for the operations department. "The operations department came to install another clocking machine" and said the service was also "very good".
We asked if Tensor could improve its services, and she replied, "Not really, whenever we have had a problem, we always got a resolution."
The recent addition of the Self-Service Module is set to further streamline their operations. "With the self-service module, it will make it easier to book holidays, instead of filling out loads of forms and paperwork, employees can just request it directly," she added "it will take out a large amount of paperwork and manual input."
To wrap up the conversation, we asked Caroline if she would recommend Tensor to other companies. Her answer was simple: "Yes", and when asked to sum up the system in just a few words, Caroline replied, "instant information".
