Biometric time and attendance systems to streamline Government staff monitoring

Biometric time and attendance systems will help Government authorities ensure punctuality and accountability of employees in public offices across the Indian state of Punjab, a news report could reveal.

The fingerprint readers will be installed in the next two months to to ensure punctuality of employees in the wake of public complaints in this regard. The time and attendance systems are to be installed in all public offices in Chandigarh as well as in districts and other field offices.

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal assured the complainants that the government would complete this project on priority, and that the biometric devices would be linked to a centralized control room to keep record of timings of employees. Department heads would monitor the functioning of devices at headquarters while Deputy Commissioners would be responsible for the same at the district level.

Top-range Time and Attendance Security Stations can be equipped with biometric fingerprint readers, a feature that eliminates any fraudulent clocking.

Government authorities searching for a solution to manage multiple employee management systems installed in various locations should also consider advanced systems featuring Telephone Clocking modules that enable staff to call in from remote locations to clock IN or OUT or review their flexitime balance or remaining holiday entitlement. After entry of their pass code, an automated, spoken menu guides employees to the option they require.

Enforcing a higher level of security is also very important for the system's functionality. Users should be restricted to menu options granted to them, structured around pre-installed configurable "roles". Restrictions by sub section or at a topic level should also be available.
