Employers urged to run more traineeship schemes

Employers are being urged to run more traineeship schemes, in order to help get underprivileged or under-qualified people of school leaver age or slightly above ready for apprenticeships, a news report on the matter has recently revealed.

A Traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience focusing on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for. At its core are work preparation training, English and maths for those who need it, and a high quality work experience placement.

The National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) is asking employers to get more involved in such schemes, typically available to young people aged 16 to 23.

Skills and enterprise minister Matthew Hancock said: “We introduced traineeships to unlock the great potential of young people. Employers involved in the programme are now helping their trainees to develop the skills that are required in the workplace. They can then build on this and begin their career with an apprenticeship or other sustainable jobs.”

Quite obviously, managing all of the young people participating in such schemes will not be a very easy task, especially if we happen to be talking about larger companies willing to take on a larger number of trainees.

However, Tensor plc can help your company manage extra staff coming in via traineeship schemes, as we supply a full range of solutions designed specifically to streamline workforce and skill management within companies of any sizes.
