Recent research by recruitment company Hays published as a part of its latest UK Salary and Recruiting Trends report suggests that “candidate confidence” is increasing. As a direct result, 38% of employees questioned in the survey plan to move jobs within the next six months, while 6t1% plan to do so over the next 12 months.

The main reasons for moving on are wanting a bigger salary (27%) and being frustrated by a lack of future opportunities (26%).

However, this trend is likely to affect employers looking to expand their headcount. “Candidate confidence in the market has increased in the last six months and this will cause headaches for employers who are looking to increase their headcount,” said Hays MD Nigel Heap.

According to the findings, 70% of employers are planning to increase headcount in the next year, with 62% of organisations planning to hire more permanent staff and 33% expecting to hire more temporary, contract or interim workers.
