Tensor wishes a very happy retirement to Shane Turnidge, who has been a key part of our team for 16 years.
Coming from a background in software, including working for a company who dealt with software that helped ex-prisoners rehabilitate back into society, Shane originally started at Tensor as a Junior Programmer.
He says: "I learnt a lot and it was fun. I liked the place from the start because it was family run and everyone I met at the time was both helpful and friendly."
Following a year away from the business to recover from an illness, Shane returned to Tensor: "My biggest challenge was after re-joining Tensor having to seamlessly fit into a partly changed software team.
"I have had the privilege of working with some wonderful, exceptionally talented, and dedicated people. I've learned a great deal along the way and, I hope, helped a few others reach their potential too.
"I have always found the most rewarding aspect was teaching new team members to get the best out of themselves. There was not always success but on average it has been mostly positive."
During his time at Tensor Shane has worked on a huge number of projects and developments, several of which were notable:
"The SSM login application was rewarding but very interesting. The PortData application that upgraded the original Enterprise system to the current Tensor.NET system. Later the addition or the ability to merge an existing Tensor.NET database to another Tensor.NET database. This was later extended to the extraction of a Tensor.NET database."
However, his favourite moment at Tensor is from before he even started!
"I think my favourite moment was right at the start when I arrived on the wrong day for my interview and still had the interview and later the job. It showed even if I made a mistake the problem could be overcome.
"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has helped and supported me over the past 16 years.
"I wish you all continued success, happiness, and all the very best for the future."
