Time and attendance systems make savings on staff

A plan to save millions in the police force seeks to introduce a voluntary redundancy package for officers who are on "light" or "restricted" duties following injury. It would need to be more lucrative than the sum officers would get if they were to take the pension entitled to them at that moment in time. But it would be less than the pension the force would be required to contribute to should the officer continue working in a back-office function until he or she had worked the 30 years required to claim a full pension. Tensor offers state of the art time and attendance systems, based on smart cards and fobs, which mean businesses or organisations make savings on payroll and staff. Since the cards are simply presented to the scanner and do not have to be swiped they will last longer, and dust and residue picked up from the working environment presents no risk of clogging the reader. Fingerprint scanners (as seen in the picture) can be added to your system to take care of more secure areas. Reports show jobs that are over budget or those approaching their budget limit.

Tensor steps up security at your plant or site

SmartWater is an intelligent move from BT, as it is a form of dye which stays on the skin of the increasing number of those who are stealing copper wire from their telephone network. Bernie Auguste, head of security at BT Openreach, said: "From now on, any criminal who targets the BT network risks being invisibly tagged with SmartWater, meaning that the police can trace them, and any stolen cable or equipment, back to the scene of the crime.” Tensor can equip firms with an arsenal of visitor control, surveillance and access control technology to step up security at their plant, factory or site. Smart card operated access control systems are ideal for your office or factory, and can control most standard types of internal and external electronic door locks and releases, for companies with under 250 personnel to large multinational corporations. You are given total control over who is allowed access through any door on your access control network, at any time of the day. Maintenance contracts are available for support of digital CCTV systems and software, which can be added to the access control system.

Two WINning ways to make your firm more efficient

Problems have occurred in a Welsh town due to new limited waiting zones forcing long-stay motorists to travel further up town to quiet areas to find a free space. Colwyn Bay Town Councillor, William Bagnall, forecast packed residential roads in the town on implementation of the new rules. He said: “The actual price of a ticket in the long-stay carpark on Lansdowne Road is under a pound a day if you have a season ticket. As that carpark is not fully utilised, if people are working in Colwyn Bay there is that. People should appreciate Colwyn Bay and the restrictions.” To avoid issues such as illegal parking on your site, Tensor can install a range of parking barriers which have the option of integrating into the company’s cutting-edge smart card access control networks. Each barrier mechanism is individually adjusted to meet your needs, ensuring exceptional durability and delivering longer lasting, problem-free operation. All automatic car park barriers are supplied complete and are ready to accept power and data connections. Boom arms are available in a number of different lengths to suit various road widths.

A body which represents civil servants has announced concern about the Welsh government’s plans to lay off hundreds of staff. The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) spokesperson said: "We are concerned about the likely effects on workload and work-life balance for staff.” The government's economy office is to shed at least 250 jobs, or a quarter of total staff levels, in order to bolster the economic renewal programme recently outlined by the Deputy First Minister. The announcement is not directly linked to the UK government's spending cuts but unions expressed their worries about the size of the measures. Businesses worried about the implications of the difficult economic climate can cut their overheads through Tensor’s two dedicated time and attendance systems available, which will maximise efficiency. WinTA PC Clock is easy PC for schools

Education Secretary Michael Gove faced a political storm when attempting to justify the cancellation of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme. The minister was already under fire over the botched announcement covering more than 700 projects nationwide. Mr Gove has attracted particular ire over his axing of 26 school rebuilds in Merseyside, and admitted that these secondary school projects were among three areas nationwide to be hardest hit. Tensor’s unbeatable Windows™ based Time and Attendance systems include WinTA PC Clock, which is a simple PC-based clocking system ideal for a school or college and is EU Working Time Directive compliant. Employees are simply presented with an input screen on their PC allowing them to clock in and out. The analysis module within the package then performs all the calculations necessary to ensure compliance with both regional and national legislation. With many of the features of the acclaimed WinTA Lite software included in PC Clock, such as the holiday and absence planners, PC Clock remains the best product on the market for small-scale time and attendance monitoring; thus saving your school time and money when times are tight.

One clock records employee details for 250 people

Cash-strapped Portsmouth Football Club won their fight for survival in the High Court, which ruled in the favour of the club. HM Revenue & Customs was seeking an order blocking a proposed Company Voluntary Agreement (CVA) put together by the club's administrators to help it out of administration. HMRC argued the CVA was "unfair and seriously flawed" as it gave preference to football creditors, who were able to claim all what they were owed, while other creditors would receive much less. Pompey suffered relegation following their financial woes, which was chiefly due to a top-heavy wage structure. Clubs, like all businesses, can keep a tight rein on their balance sheet with a Tensor time and attendance system. Smart cards and key fobs can be used to operate your, which is able to efficiently share employee data. The entry-level WinTA Lite operates a single time clock and can record employee details for up to 250 people. The versatile set up (compatible with all working hours regulations) means you can create a wide range of daily working patterns, or shifts.

CCTV digital footage helps to secure convictions

CCTV footage has helped convict a man who assaulted a soldier in a town centre incident. The attack on the veteran, who served in Afghanistan, took place in July 2008 outside the Walkabout bar in Wigan, Greater Manchester. Jurors were shown CCTV footage of Peter Lightfoot pushing Lance Corporal Mark Aspinall's head to the ground and striking him with a police helmet. Originally, police were called to the bar after L/Cpl Aspinall, who was drunk and off-duty, was thrown off the premises. Night shifts simple to define with clocking software

Quangos – short for quasi-autonomous non-governmental organisation – are seen by many, including the current administration, as a waste of money. Consequently the government, keen to make savings, has abolished many of them, putting many thousands of public sector workers out of a job. Half of these bodies in the department of health have gone, as confirmed by the minister concerned, Andrew Lansley. Doctors and nurses' groups have criticised the decision to axe organisations like the Health Protection Agency. Tensor can make savings for employers and organisations with its state of the art time and attendance clocking systems. Under this regime, employees clock in and out using smart cards, the data from which is used to create a wide range of daily working patterns (shifts), with either fixed or flexitime rules. These can run past midnight, making night shifts simple to define. The WinTA Lite software has a familiar Windows™ interface, providing quick and easy access to information. A range of output styles let you export to web pages, spreadsheets or as simple text files.

Prison Pass computer system improves security

Questions will be asked about security procedures because an armed robber absconded for a second time after he was sent to an open prison. Twenty-six year-old David Patmore had already escaped custody from the dock seven years ago. "Open prisons have existed since 1936 and they are the most effective means of ensuring prisoners are tested in the community before they are released,” a Ministry of Justice spokesman said. "To release prisoners directly from a closed prison without the resettlement benefits of the open estate would undoubtedly lead to higher levels of re-offending.” As well as being experts in Access Control, Tensor offers its Prison Pass computer based pass system for registering each visitor, both on and off site, to improve security. It allows HM Prison Service Officers to quickly check the identity of visitors. A photograph taken by a digital or eyeball camera is printed on a bar-coded pass using a high speed printer so each visitor is easily identified. At controlled monitor points, the visitor pass badge is swiped, thus verifing that the correct person is passing through.

CCTV helps the police with their enquiries

CCTV genuinely helps the police with their enquiries. For instance, camera footage has aided their investigation of a missing office worker in Edinburgh, which has resulted in Lothian and Borders Police launching a murder inquiry. The cameras show 38-year-old Suzanne Pilley just outside her office in Thistle Street on the day she went missing. The force has employed unusual methods in order to jog people’s memories. These have included a large screen placed in St Andrew Square, which showed CCTV footage of her on the way to her office. A massive array of digital CCTV cameras and recording systems is available from CCTV Surveillance Ltd for all budgets and all needs. These include infra-red, which have the capability of seeing in ‘absolute darkness’ and are ideal for town centre alleyways; and bullet cameras, which are cameras mounted in a cylindrical or bullet casing. They are perfect for situations where space and price are key factors because of their compact size and inbuilt lens. Our cameras are evidence quality so you will be helping the police to fight crime.

Automatic barriers securely control vehicle access to sites

A former Scotland Yard commander has said a heist on two of the capital's most upmarket shops may have been an inside job. Raiders smashed windows at Omega and De Beers jewellery stores in the Royal Exchange shopping centre in the City of London on Saturday night. Ex-Flying Squad officer John O'Connor told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "The villains did not drive up on the off-chance they could get through security gates. There is always the suspicion that they had somebody on the inside." Tensor’s technology is ideal for the current security climate with its access control range. Automatic barriers can be installed at the entrance to your site and enable you to securely control vehicle access. At this point you are able to allow or deny access to anyone visiting your site. Barriers can be controlled remotely, from your reception area; or locally, from a guard post next to the barrier. Smart cards can be used to automatically open the gate when an authorised member of staff needs to get in. Accurate records of any visitors are stored within the monitoring software.
