Flexible working and economic transformation are top trends driving change in UK organizations

Flexible working options and economic transformation are among the top trends that are shaping the future of work, recent research from CIPD in association with Workday has been able to suggest.

The research report suggests that economic shift, including globalisation and Brexit, is currently the most common driver of change in UK organisations. The demand for flexible working and changing demographics are the second and third biggest drivers of organisation change, after economic transformation.

The CIPD believes that changing demographics cannot be viewed in isolation from the demand for flexible working. In fact, the ageing population is resulting in an increasing number of carers in the workforce and flexible working options are one way in which organisations can support and encourage carers to continue working.

Furthermore, many younger workers also value flexible working because of the improved work–life balance it enables. Managing a multigenerational workforce is challenging, it is achievable by creating an agile culture that values all people and encourages effective collaboration between them. However, in order to achieve this bold goal, organization require the right workforce management tools, and this is specifically the area where Tensor can put its extensive experience to very good use.

Tensor time and attendance system offers extensive options for the management of flexible working hours

Tensor plc supplies an extensive range of workforce management solutions that cater for all the requirements of the modern workplace, including flexible working.

The system can supply working rules for a variety of purposes, from simple determination of overtime by the number of daily hours worked, to the more complex payment of overtime hours adjusted when periodic targets are not met. The system also contains special rules to accommodate the formal flexitime contracts worked by many public sector employees. Workers paid on an annual contract basis can receive reports stating how many contracted hours they have yet to work.

Additionally, our top-range WinTA suite features an On-line Self Service module that allows staff to clock IN or OUT, check hours, request leave + other functions via internet, mobile or other communications.

Furthermore, with the Telephone Clocking module, staff can call in from remote locations to clock IN or OUT or review their flexitime balance or remaining holiday entitlement. After entry of their pass code, an automated, spoken menu guides employees to the option they require.
